Inhalt: In academic and scientific work, it is obvious that various different rules are applied for citations. Almost every scholarly discipline has developed its own special methods, and there are oddities even within single fields. One important reason for this is that the concepts of ?exactness=, ?comprehensibility= and even ?practicability= diverge within the canon of academic subjects. Harald Jele therefore focuses above all on the fundamental aspects that in a special way form the background to all citation rules and are thus applied in practical everyday life. In addition to dealing with traditional sources, the citation of online sources is also discussed in detail. A discussion of the currently hot topic of plagiarism makes it particularly clear that simply sticking to even the most sophisticated citation rules possible is not the answer to everything.
